Alaskan Cruise Must-Haves
The Last Frontier
Most Alaskan cruises sail through the southeastern portion of the state. This part of Alaska is home to the world’s largest temperate rainforest and rains up to 200 inches per year. Let’s pack in ways to keep you warm and dry!
Waterproof everything: especially waterproof footwear. Waterproof, or water resistant shoes are a must! Don’t forget a waterproof jacket. If you’re going whale watching, waterproof pants is another item to consider.
Bug spray: it’s a rainforest after all. The humid weather means lots of bugs in the summer time.
Layers: The weather and temperatures can vary. Dressing in layers that you can put on or take off will keep you comfortable on those long days ashore and away from your cabin.
Waterproof backpack: helps protect your belongings and keep them dry. Also a great way to pack your layers while enjoying shore excursions.
Magnetic hooks: the walls in your stateroom cabin are great for magnets. Using heavy-duty magnetic hooks is a smart way to dry your outerwear when you return to your stateroom.
Warm hats and gloves: wearing a beanie keeps your ears (and noggin) warm. These are great for windy conditions, boat excursions, and those cold temperatures. Gloves that allow you to keep using your touchscreen phone for pictures is a must!
Don’t forget the bathing suit!: Yes, the indoor pools are open and a great way to get exercise. Plus, the hot tubs are lovely after a cold day ashore.

Caribbean Cruise Essentials
On Island Time
The Caribbean is best known for its warm tropical weather year-round. Here are some ideas to keep your trip cool and comfortable.
Comfortable footwear: wearing those nice heels and dress shoes are great for Formal Night. However, packing shoes for when you’re off the boat will keep your feet free of aches, pains, and blisters.
Swimsuits: bring multiple swimsuits to rotate and show off your style while the others hang to dry in your stateroom.
Sun Protection: Don’t let a sunburn ruin your vacation. Applying sunscreen protects your skin from the UV rays of the sun. Look for reef-friendly options to help protect the reefs and its inhabitants.
Lip Balm: enjoying fun in the sun mixed with beach time and ocean breezes can be quite uncomfortable for your lips. Protect your lips with UV protection lip balm.
Formal wear: one night on your sailing is designated as “Formal Night.” Dress in your best and take advantage of the ship’s professional photographers. These pictures are a great memory maker. Obtain a digital copy for photo books or holiday cards.
Landyards: keep track of your stateroom key with a landyard. Find an affordable option before your trip or browse the selection of landyards aboard your ship to purchase. Keep in mind the landyards on the ship will cost you more.
Comfortable Clothing: your cruise vacation may include a lot of walking in the heat. Be sure to pack comfortable shirts, tank tops, shorts or pants that will keep you cool and comfortable wether onboard or ashore.
Light Outerwear: inside the cruise ship can be rather cool. Stay warm with a light sweater, sweatshirt or cardigan while enjoying shows, eating in the dining room, or playing in the casino.
